The kingdom’s water has dried up and Kenny the lion ventures off to the Cave of Mysteries to solve the problem. But this is not an easy feat. This book teaches the importance of bravery and perseverance while chronicling Kenny’s journey.
Younger children would enjoy the story as well as the colorful imagery.
On the other hand, something about the way the lions were illustrated was a bit distracting because it felt fake. It didn’t match the same whimsical and authentic vibe as the other illustrations. There are also two prominent illustrations of the moon. Some might see this as showing the beauty of the night, whereas others may have a different view.
Some parents and teachers might want to know that there is a scene where Kenny says a prayer, but there is no particular deity mentioned. Yet him putting on armor and being a lion might evoke certain internal imagery.
Overall, this is a cute story that shows how courage is sometimes required in order to solve problems.
