This book is about a busy mother who wishes she had more arms to help her around the house.
From the text it’s not clear if the mother wants eight arms, or if she wants six arms. In one of the illustrations she has six arms, but in another she has eight.
However, the beautiful message in this book is that she doesn’t need more arms if her children would just help her around the house. This book could be encouraging to little ones who need a reminder of why it’s important to help out with chores. It could also help to stimulate one’s imagination – what would it be like to be a creature with more than two arms?
Speaking of arms, there is an illustration where the mother is wearing blue gloves and beige gloves on some of her arms. But the beige gloves could be confusing because it looks like they put the wrong arm colors on the mother. In another illustration, the beige gloves clearly show a different arm color at the top of the glove, while another arm is ironing while the iron is backwards.
Unfortunately, if one looks carefully, there are some inconsistencies within the artwork. However, the message of the book is heartfelt and very important. It is a nice story which promotes honoring and respecting the work that mothers do.
