Many children deal with anxiety on a daily basis. It’s not always easy to find a solution. I appreciate that this book contains beautiful and bright illustrations because it makes the book feel inviting.

The book gives very good descriptions and I feel that the “what if’s” running through the main character’s mind are very relatable to children, and possibly to adults who remember their childhood.

I appreciated how the book briefly touched on how anxiety can cause one to become controlling. With that in mind, if I were to read this to a child, I would circle back to that point by reviewing the concept of things we can control vs. things we cannot control.

One suggestion given in the story was to pay attention to one’s senses. But when the character did this, it brought up more anxiety. So she learns to accept her worries while including the possibility that things will go well within her ruminations.

Parents and teachers should know that the main character spends most of the book anxiety-ridden; but then she decides to include helpful statements alongside her anxieties.

The author includes a note at the end which mentions that sometimes taking medication is necessary.

As an energetically sensitive person, this book is anxiety provoking and doesn’t give the opportunity to discharge that. However, I feel it would be helpful to those who need a reminder that they also have the option to ask – what if everything turns out just fine.
