This is a short chapter book with a few illustrations which depict diverse representations.

The main character, Peter, does not like fighting because his parents are divorced. When he goes to school, he gets bullied and the teacher spends years not taking it seriously.

Peter is very sad, and it comes through in his writing. Unfortunately, instead of simply taking the message to heart, his teacher accuses him of not writing it himself. His mother recognized his talent, and noticed his pain, but her conversation about it with Peter leaves something to be desired.

He eventually meets a man named Merlin who changes his path by giving him a magical crystal. He learns to use the stone’s magic and then discovers that he doesn’t need the stone because the magic is within. This is framed as him discovering that he can take actions that lead to getting results.

The lessons that can be learned from this book include empathy. One could ask the reader – how do you think Peter felt when his feelings about being bullied kept being ignored? Personal responsibility is another lesson that could be explored.

I do not know the author’s intent or alignments for writing this book. However, based on my energetic impressions, awakened empaths will notice the themes or symbolism of victim-victimzer, orphan complex, red and white roses, a white cat, a red haired gentleman, the name Merlin, and reference to a red dragon. There are also illustrations of a white unicorn, a crystal ball, a knight’s armor, and a woman that could be perceived as attempting to give Brigid energy.

Overall, this is an easy to read, engaging story that prompts one to use the imagination. It may also trigger some cellular memories.
